Whenever we visit the toy department lately all of the trucks in the aisle come off the shelf and go into the shopping cart. We don’t buy then usually, but Jude is certainly determined to attempt to sneak them in. We let him get these little trucks the other day and now they go everywhere with him. And when I say everywhere, I mean it. He has a little bucket he carries them in like a purse, and they go to the store, in the bath and even in bed – though they must certainly be uncomfortable.
Imagine his complete joy, then, that our entire yard at the new house is just dirt for the time being. We have many trucks now, some small like Matchbox cars and others large enough to straddle and ride. Long minutes are spent making the beep beep beeping noise that warns when a truck is backing up, or vrooming from here to there. The scoopers are filled with mud and dumped here or there. Heaven for two year old boys must look a lot like this!
